Kids Return – 1997

Music news

Discover 1997, the second album of the French duo Kids Return, which has fun with an indie rock, without being indelicate. Find them in our future of Music selection.

Clément Savoye and Adrien Rozé had already pointed out at the end of a confinement with Forever Melodies and intend to keep the promise made in this title with his sympathetic suite. With its delicate melodies, its sweet rhythms and its raised singing lines, one could expect a continuation after all wise and of good quality, thus confirming the talent seen in 2022.
Nevertheless, Kids Return allowed himself a slight turn by bartering the fascination for the Californian sun against the charm of British spray. Thus, the cloud of the Britpop hovers above the compos of the Parisian duo, with “Time to Time” in mind, with a song line that a certain Liam Gallagher would not have denied.

If the influences of the two musicians are obvious, they manage to offer an interesting mixture, filled with mysterious arpeggios (“Seattle Boat”) which contrast with certain well -felt accelerations (“First Choice”) and charming choirs (“Teenage Dreams”). 1997 consists of ten effective pieces written by a duo who also knows how to take his time and let the instruments breathe.

Combining solar atmosphere and spray of sympathetic notes, Kids Return is split with a very beautiful sound rainbow, surmounted by a discreet writing intelligence. Fluide and nuanced, 1997 reveals her charms while knowing how to be desired.
