Katy Perry leaves American Idol and confirms that new music is coming: “It’s going to be an exciting year”

We already advanced it in WECB just a few months ago. Everything pointed to the fact that Katy Perry had her mind set on her new music for 2024 and now it was the singer herself who confirmed it in an interview in the Jimmy Kimmel show.

The actor and presenter has had the pleasure of chatting with the creator of Roar in your program Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he went to promote the premiere of the new season of American Idol on ABC. Once on set, Perry took the opportunity to point out that this would be her last season in the contest. “This will probably be my last season on Idol. I mean, I love the show, it connects me to the heart of America, but I want to go out and see the world, take the pulse at my own pace,” the Santa Barbara singer explained.

The creator of immortal hits like Firework, Hot n Cold or Last Friday Night has participated as a jury of the popular format along with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan for seven editions. Perry also said that she had plans for this year: “It’s going to be a very, very exciting year, for all the girl pop stars,” she declared in reference to the great musical comebacks planned for 2024 of divas such as Jennifer Lopez, BeyoncĂ©, Dua Lipa or Ariana Grande, among others. “I want to see the world and maybe release new music.”

Perry also discussed with Kimmel his next visit to the festival. Rock in Rio Brazilwhere he will perform in September: “It’s really exciting, it’s something big, especially for my Brazilian fans,” he expressed, and also wanted to dedicate some nice words to Usher for his recent performance at the Super Bowl: “He was incredible, he’s a great performer,” he said after saying that he ran into him last summer on vacation and he beat up the Monopoly Deal.
