Tireless defenders of the heavy metal faith that are Judas Priest release Invincible Shield, their 19th album. A success.
Heavy metal has never been short of metaphors and images. It is very difficult not to see – not without a certain amusement – in this “shield of invincibility” a symbol of longevity of a kind sealed off from external attacks promising imminent death for… decades. And that it is one of its most worthy representatives who thus adorns himself with said shell is all the more succulent, especially since he demonstrates here how he has lost none of his flame or his momentum – or how many he found!
Without changing anything in what he knows – well – to do, between immutable vocal flights, double guitars in total control and metronomic rhythm section, Judas Priest has, in fact, not seemed in such good shape, or even inspired, for a long time . In any case, how and why go and pick trouble with guys who tell you, with all the conviction in the world, that “the heavy is the crown of horns which preserves the faith with so much ardor”? We agree !
