This is the only French date of the next Shield of Pain Tour, during which the group continues to defend Invincible Shieldhis latest studio album to date. “This title has been in my head for years” explains singer Rob Halford in an interview with the editorial staff, on the cover of our metal special issue. “When writing the song itself, I had an epiphany. The lyrics are a way of expressing our love of metal and the faith we have in it. But when we dig into the deeper meaning of a title like “Invincible Shield”, we can associate it with Glen, we can associate it with the attitude we adopt when we have to face the difficulties of the life. We can also associate this title with the longevity of Judas Priest, of which all fans are a part. This word association brings all these ideas. »
However, beyond their latest album, the group will celebrate the 35th anniversary of their legendary album Painkiller. “This unique selection of tracks will defend the faith in metal through a memorable experience this summer” declares the group in a press release.
In 2024, Judas Priest visited Lyon and Paris, but was also one of the headliners of the first edition of Heavy Weekend. Happy not to limit himself to Paris, the singer explains: “France is an important part of the global metal scene, so we’re happy to dig deeper. Much like the UK, metalheads aren't quite the same in the north and the south. However, we all manage to come together for our common passion. »
