Interview with Ulrika Spacek

Interviews

The magic of time in music.

After the successful search for experimentation to create harmonies with new techniques, Ulrika Spacek has a new challenge when taking to the stages of the United States, Mexico and the United Kingdom. For this reason, Indie Rocks! We had a chat with the English band in which they gave us a glimpse into the past and future of the project.

Ulrika Spacek They are considered an experimental indie band that, in each of their albums, lets us see between the harmonies and what they tell us in their verses, what we can observe in their daily life is their inspiration.

“Every time I see something I like, I take a photo or a screenshot, “When you do it you can create a palette with your own tastes and when I transfer that to the music it becomes magical. It is always a challenge, especially when you make several albums because you try to transmit new emotions or create something different from what you did before. Unfortunately many artists see it as therapy, a nice process that they feel relieved by, but it is usually frustrating, but in the end you can be proud of it and it makes it all worth it,” they comment.

We always try to play with different structures in songs so as not to make things so obvious. To explore and make things sound interesting to us, I hope it will be interesting to people as well.”

Despite the interruptions and new influences they encountered along the way, Ulrika Spacek He kept his stamp, which we can hear in his most recent album Compact TraumaThey share with us how this complicated process was so that it could see the light.

“It was a very long process; we started quickly, but then it got complicated because we had moments of lack of inspiration until we stopped. We didn’t force it and we took some time; it was very cleansing. We got rid of the things we didn’t like anymore and we just built from the beginning, which makes it a very significant album because I think a lot of bands in our position wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

It sounds cliché, but if you open the door to something you've kept locked away for a long time, you'll see it with new eyes.”

On September 27th, Ulrika Spacek will visit the Indie Rocks! Forum to share an intimate moment with his fans, hoping that from spontaneity, something unique can be born, because with this latest album the experience will also be different.

“It’s been a bit difficult to play the new songs live because we don’t do them justice, it took us a while to find the best way to make the songs sound like one big piece of music and now we’re very happy to see it come true and enjoy it,” they tell us.

It is important to us that the shows feel captivating.”

“For the show In Mexico we plan to play new songs because we are working on a new album, but there are some songs Compact Trauma We've never played live before, so that will be a big surprise for everyone.”
