Interview with Sasami

Interviews

All good things have an end. The vulnerability of a strong heart.

To study classical music to create pop hymns, Sasami He is an artist who has demonstrated in each of his songs an ability to leave a part of his heart and soul.

When I was studying music at the university, I studied French classic tube and I had a jazz class, in which I had to improvise and that simple shareholding flew my head, because when you study classical music, you reproduce notes in a piece of paper, but you don't improvise your own music. ”

For Sasamithis experience led her to consolidate a pop project in which you can experiment with various sounds, with layers that allow her to express beyond words, such is the example of her most recent single “In Love With A Memory”in collaboration with Clairo.

“This song was born in a very natural way. I wanted to write something that felt nostalgic and called those times when you don't know if you want to leave a place because you are comfortable or want to take a risk and venture to a new path. This song is very ambiguous in the sense of whether it is a duet or is a person who has these two voices inside his head. I think it is very human to be undecided if staying or going in a new direction. ”

For Sasami It is important to connect in a very honest way with their listeners and, to achieve it, it also makes an extra effort to give them musical videos that tell a story.

“A large part of creating visuals in my project is to make a community of artists I know and respect their work. I have done several jobs with Andrew Thomas Huangwho recorded the video of 'Honeycrash' And with the cover of my new album Blood On The Silver Screen. Jay Swuen He was the director of the video of 'In Love With A Memory' And he was the director of photography in other videos. Crystal directed the video of 'Slugger'but it was also involved in the direction of my changing rooms. I work with friends who are in my community that gives me the comfort of giving them the freedom to make decisions about what they believe represents my work. ” The creative freedom that occurs Sasamihas allowed him to explore his creativity, not just musical, also visual.
