Interview with Los Pensetes

Interviews

A trip for two decades of independence and creativity, accompanied by a tribute album full of surprising adaptations.

From his training in Madrid in 2004, The Punsetes It has erected as one of the most emblematic and transgressive groups of the independent music scene. Integrated by Ariadna, Manu, Chema, Jorge and Luisthis group has woven its own path with sarcastic letters and a sound that challenges labels.

In 2024 he celebrated 20 years of experience with the launch of his compilation album That give your friends assa tribute to his career with versions of outstanding themes played by artists of various generations such as Carolina during, Sidonie, The planets, Shegoamong others.

Despite never having raised long -term objectives and playing and throwing records, the balance of these two decades within the independent music scene has been the key for The Punsetes get here and Jorge He assures that, if not, they would not have come so far.

The balance is good because we would not have endured, we do this basically because we like it a lot and because we had a good time. We like to make songs, we like to do them together. ”

“For us it has been something very natural in the sense that we have never thought a lot, we have simply played, we have been taking out things and suddenly 20 years, because I know, it is a bit madness.”

“The albums always make you a little temporary brand, for example when we get the last one a couple of years or three, which was already the seventh say, 'fuck, seven albums'”.

Remembering the first moments as a group brings you a mixture of emotions. They never imagined the impact they would have on independent music, but always maintained a short -term vision.

We have always had one thing, a little for our way of being and not dedicate ourselves exclusively to this; We have never thought in the long term and we have thought about normal plans from here to a year or two that is basically what is a bit of a slight-discharge. Or an album and the corresponding tour. ”

Looking back, Jorge He assures that, although their scale is not gigantic, if someone had told them that it would last so long and that things would go so well, they would have filled them with illusion.

“Within our dimension – which is not such a great dimension – if they had told us when we started that we would have lasted so much and that everything was going like that good as it has gone, because we would have made us very excited to think about it, the truth.”

There is one thing that is cool, that makes me funny and that seems to me Guaywhich is that it has always been a very organic thing and that it has been passing little by little. So suddenly there is a song that bursts everything and you owe your whole career to a song and things like that. ”

Regarding the new album, they say that this project arose as an opportunity to mix generations: artists who inspired them, stage partners and new proposals influenced by them.

“Beyond choosing the groups with the seal and talking with the groups and being a bit on top of the song cast, we have really done nothing,” he revealed Jorge In the interview.

Despite being a tribute to his career, they explain that their participation in the creative process was limited, since it was the seal who coordinated the collaborations and assignments of songs.

We try to mix as older people who have influenced us with younger people whom we have liked. And then also try to open the thing stylistically; That is, worry a little that it was not a album of guitars only because it could be a slightly boring album. ”

The experience of listening to the versions of their themes was, according to them, peculiar, although several interpretations stand out, the most valuable thing for them was to see how each artist printed their personal seal.

It really was a bit silly because in the end, as there were so many people, because we were coming loose songs. Suddenly any Wednesday, in Plan 'hey the version of' La Paloma '' has arrived, 'hey who has arrived I don't know what'; From the seal they sent it to us and listened to each one at home but if they had arrived all at once, I would have been to listen to them as well as all followed by the pull. ”

This compilation album is also an excuse to dust off old songs that much of its current audience has not heard live. In addition, they are excited to return to Mexico, with presentations confirmed in the Indie Rocks forum! February 22 and a date in Monterrey.

I do not know if you can say, I think it is uncompaging, but on the 21st we are going to do Monterrey too. We will do the concert based on the compilation and with something else, the good thing about that really is that, because we have not chosen the songs there are a few old songs that we have not touched for a long time and that surely many people have not heard and the We will play on this little tour, it is an incentive, “Jorge concluded for the interview.
