Find your roots and do the “shit” you like to achieve success.
From Boston, Dead Poet Society will inaugurate 2025 with a presentation at the Indie Rocks Forum! in which we can listen to songs from his recent album FISSION. That's why we talk to Jack Underkoflerguitarist and vocalist of the band, about their most recent tour.
Starting from the United States to Europe, Dead Poet Society enjoyed the success of their most recent tour at festivals and shared stages with bands like Highly Suspectin which fans from all over the world were able to enjoy and listen to the songs from their new album live.
For the band it was also a surprise after almost a decade of career. “I was nervous about it, but it turned out to be better than anything we've done before, so it's a relief,” he said. Jack relieved and with a big sigh.
You have to forget that everyone is going to listen to it, you can't make music thinking 'I hope they like it', you just have to make the shit you think is good. You don't know how it will be received until it's out there, you may think it's very good, but others don't.”
For this tour, the band underwent a small obstacle that made them put in their efforts and more hours of rehearsal before setting foot on stage.
“We have amp modelers so, at the beginning of the year, we sat down and went through each song in small sessions to build the tones and replicate them. It took a while because when you have a tone, you have to make sure your sound fits with the other person's and still sounds as similar to the album as possible. It is a very good process, but it takes time,” he tells us.
Just as it was individually Dead Poet Society undoubtedly grew to finally set foot on solid ground and gain confidence in the project that has catapulted them to different destinations around the world. After 2024 by land and air, Jack reveals to us the band's greatest learning.
First of all, it's important to have a vibe and for this album we didn't have that, I still think it's amazing: it's its magic. We focused so much on the music that in the end we put it together and it sounds amazing, but I think the guys and I have very strong vibes and themes. On the other hand, the idea of being successful or the desire to become successful can distract you from making the art you love and think is good.”
On January 25, we will be able to listen to songs like ““HURT” (we hope it will be in collaboration with The Warning)““My Condition”, “Tipping Point” but above all expect a great show of the American band. Surprises? We don't know, but you have to be there to check it out.
“Be surprised if I don't arrive. For me it is very unreal because most of the time shows They were practically empty, but now we have achieved some sold out. It's been a while since we last went to Mexico and now we are very excited, I don't expect anything from anyone, I will just say that we will do our best.”
