A promise that forges its way through words.
The national scene of freestyle and rap is growing day by day, with more openness towards the genre; with spaces that have become iconic for rap battles. freestyle and competitions that provide international scope for Mexican talent that is beginning a period of transition towards a stage in which new figures are beginning to make a name for themselves.
Marlen Rosalesbetter known in the world of freestyle as Azuky, This is a case in which, despite his short time within the scene, a bright future is projected due to his impressive contributions in different championships of the genre. This is because, since he began to participate, the noise around his name has not stopped; with important confrontations against others freestylers as Lewin in the Venom league, Xavlac and Rapder in the famous Red Bull Battle 2023where he threw powerful bars that surprised an audience that recognizes young contenders when they do not take a step back when facing heavyweight legends.
Taking advantage of the upcoming participation of Azuky in the 2024 edition of Red Bull BattleWe sat down to talk with this young artist to learn a little about her story, motivations and goals in this upcoming competition that will be held on July 20, and in which a ticket will be distributed for the international competition that will be held in Spain next November.

As I mentioned, Azuky She is a rising contender who made her debut in the battles of the square a few years ago and who in the last two years has conquered stages of international importance thanks to the deep passion she feels for this artistic movement, which has given her the popular title of The young promise of the freestyle Mexicanshe comments on this.
I never took it as something secondary, even though I didn't practice it regularly, nor did I train professionally or anything like that, but I think that really, because my passion and my love for this was so great that I was always looking for alternatives to rap more, to rap for longer, to go to more competitions. I was always looking for ways to always be there.”
When an artist is labeled as a promise, a great weight falls on his shoulders because the expectations of many begin to create pressure on a person who seeks only to establish himself within the scene, but in this case the impact of the pressure It can be overwhelming because it is a competition-based environment, like a high-performance sport. Your talent is measured by the number of wins, and the accuracy of your moves. punchlines.
“I think that when they start calling you a promise, if you don't know how to handle it, it's difficult because practically all the expectations fall on your shoulders when you start assuming that responsibility without more. Because we are in Mexico and here I think there are two factors. One is that there really isn't as much new blood as in other countries that have a lot of talent, and the other is that there are a lot of new talents … freestylers of the new generation that are already standing out nationally and internationally. Apart from that, I feel that there is the factor that in Mexico lives the best freestyler of the world and history (Aczino) and it really is a very high bar, if I only focus on that, I couldn't, I only focus on what I love and what I want to win.”
Azuky will face on July 20 a poster full of talent and legacy on the stages of Red Bull BattleBesides that, Azuky She faces the challenge of being the only woman confirmed to participate in this edition, in which she has a great chance of writing her name in golden letters in the history of a top-level competition. She comments on this.
I appreciate that people can identify with me, that's a good thing, but what I think is that this is not a fight between men and women, but rather a fight between equals and anyone can win if they prepare enough and give it their all on the stage.”
Something that can cause curiosity among the public, or at least is something that is on the mind of your server, is how a freestyler preparing for a competition of this type, which resembles the type of training of an athlete who also seeks to leave everything on the tartan.
“I rap a lot and I'm very consistent with it, because in the end practicing always keeps you in rhythm and ready for any situation that may occur in a competition. I try to keep my mental agility always very sharp, so that my mind is like a lightning bolt that hits when it has to hit, and I do different things to achieve that, I even buy, like, these books that come with mental agility exercises. Also something that I try to give a lot of importance to is always learning new things, new music, new movies, new series, new books, knowing about general culture, so that they don't catch me off guard with what I don't know.”
This is the third edition of Red Bull Battlein which Azuky is part of the lineup competitor, and on this occasion we can see a much more mature version of the young artist, who has not stopped preparing for this important moment.
“Not only have I evolved in terms of my rapping level, but I think I have also evolved in my mentality. In my first Red Bull The truth is that I didn't give it the seriousness that it required and that it demanded. Yes, I trained, yes I got my mind set, but the truth is that I was going now to enjoy it. This year I feel that I can't, this year I really believe that I can win, I know that I have the possibility and I am also carrying out a more planned preparation, much more focused than in previous years. There is a big difference in me.”
