Interview – RIZZO my EP is a spontaneous story of my life with its ups and downs

Interviews

“MI HAI VISTO PIANGERE IN UN CLUB” is the debut EP by RIZZO, the young artist born in 2002 who is making herself noticed among the emerging faces of the Italian urban scene.

“MI HAI VISTO PIANGERE IN UN CLUB” is composed of 8 tracks, including singles already released and four unreleased ones. It was preceded by the songs “CASSA FORTE”, in which the sweetness of the singer’s vocal line finds a unique alchemy with Greg Willen’s powerful and hypnotic beat, “Fuoritempo ;(”, published last February and produced by OkGiorgio, with an enveloping sound, and “Bonjour Adieu”, in which RIZZO talks about a relationship that ended, which now leaves room only for regrets and hopes, creating a clear contrast between the lyrics and the mood of the piece.

Among the unreleased songs available from today: “X1MILLY”, “SCIVOLANDO”, “100 ANNI” feat. gIANMARIA and Mostro, “STO IMPAZZENDO” feat. Atarde and “

“MI HAI VISTO PIANGERE IN UN CLUB” is a project I’ve been working on since 2021, which collects some of the songs born in these years, those that emotionally and musically represent me the most. “X1MILLY”, for example, is an autobiographical intro in which I put to music very personal things that I’ve never had the courage to tell before.

With this EP, in fact, I hope to convey to the public my most personal and human side.

I would like those who listen to learn about me and my story, to see what lies behind each piece.

Furthermore, the EP was collaborated by producers that I respect a lot and who are also friends: in the studio we got along very well, we made music for the pure pleasure of doing it.

I was also very happy to collaborate with Atarde and with gIANMARIA and Mostro, two apparently distant artists that I managed to fit perfectly into a song with an Afro drop, very different from their styles.»

THE VIDEO INTERVIEW

TRACK BY TRACK

X1MILLY (Cry)

It is the opening track of the EP, characterized by a melancholic sound, which expresses the feelings experienced by the artist during a period in which she found herself questioning her entire life. A song written in one go, born in the shower, in which the singer found the right sound on which to express all the emotions she felt. Born to remain a private diary, it then became the key to understanding the entire project.

SAFETY BOX (Balla)

Produced by Greg Willen and released in 2023, it is a techno-sounding piece in which the lightness and sweetness of RIZZO’s vocal line find a unique alchemy with the producer’s powerful and hypnotic beat. Born during a dream, the artist immediately decides to make it come true and produce it. The choice to leave the chorus “free”, without singing it, wants to represent RIZZO’s creativity and his carefree soul.

SLIDING (Cry and Dance)

It is one of RIZZO’s favorite tracks and describes the rediscovery of feelings that seemed lost after the end of a long relationship. It tells the story of the moment when you fall in love again and you begin to feel all those sensations that remind you of “slipping into your eyes”. Feelings that become more and more physical, until they get lost “inside us”, also rediscovering a new and personal sexuality.

BONJOUR ADIEU (Dance and Cry)

Characterized by a fresh musical carpet and the singer’s clear, sensual and scratchy timbre, it is the song released last June with which RIZZO accompanies fans during the summer season. In the single, the artist remembers the past, telling a journey made of regrets and hopes, in which he thinks back to everything he could have done to save a relationship, creating a clear contrast between the lyrics and the mood of the piece, with sounds that draw from the indie pop world.

100 YEARS feat. gIANMARIA & MOSTRO (Cry)

Music returns to being for RIZZO a refuge and a tool through which to express one’s emotions. It is a difficult song, written in one go during a night in the studio, which tells the story of the end of a love that one wished would last “100 years”. This piece sees the collaboration of two important artists, gIANMARIA and Mostro, who accompany it on light and dynamic sounds, fitting together perfectly.

OUT OF TIME (Dance)

In the song, RIZZO manages to paint a picture that tells of inadequacy in a light-hearted way, exploring the experience of those who feel out of sync with a context that beats with a different rhythm. With enveloping melodies and sounds, immediately attributable to the very original production of OkGiorgio, the song makes you dance and cry at the same time, or rather, at the right time, experimenting with new vibes: without abandoning the urban mood that has always distinguished her, the artist embraces indie pop sounds, which give freshness.

I’M GOING CRAZY feat. ATARDE (Cry)

After more sophisticated and conceptual singles, here comes a pop ballad. It tells of difficult times that are hard to see the end of, through a lively sound. Although time brings counsel and heals wounds, the artist describes those dark periods in which it seems like you’re going crazy, looking to the future as an element of positivity and strength. She does so thanks to the collaboration with Atarde, who joins her in this piece.

RIZZO once again opens with a deep text on a very dynamic base, describing how a relationship that is about to end can lead to wondering: “if love has to end like this, does it really exist?” Born from the desire to propose a single that recalls the vibes of “CASSA FORTE”, the song becomes the perfect closing of the EP, which, thanks to hard techno references, leads the listener to “dance a lot”.
