Interview – MEDITERRANEAN: the sea is a necessity for me

Interviews

Black Sea is the new single by MEDITERRANEO – aka Alessandro Casali. A song, produced by Michelangelo, that shows off the quality of writing and an elegant sound rich in colors and sensations.

A soundscape between funky and pop and a chorus that transports you to the world of 80s synthwave.

We chatted with him about his new projects and especially about the sea…

THE INTERVIEW

I've always had a dream, that of playing with the band on the seashore – explains Alessandro.
This dream came true when I had the opportunity to do some live sessions on the seashore in Lerici.

The sea has been fundamental to my music, almost as if it were one of the components of the band.
The sound of the waves crashing on the beach, the seagulls, the wind. All of this pampered us and accompanied us with its elegant sound.

I feel like a Mediterranean man and the sea, even though it is from Cremona, represents my passion and my being.

The sea is a love and absolutely a necessity. I have to go to the sea.

Mediterraneo's artistic personality is rich and a kaleidoscope of sounds coexist in harmony, making him already recognizable, from singer-songwriter influences to R&B and indie rock influences.

Marenero is a song that came to me immediately, all at once.

I made it by strumming four chords on the guitar in a quarter of an hour. The song is a story of a newfound freedom and the awareness that even difficult moments must be welcomed with the right lightness. Marenero represents the bad period that every person can face.

The funky rhythm is precisely the contrast, the lightness. If you can get through the black sea, the stormy sea, you can find the rainbow and the quiet.

For this summer Mediterraneo is preparing a series of live performances that best represent its musical essence.
