I’m In Love With A Chandelier: She’s An Objectophile And ‘Nobody’ Understands Her

Trends

Today, let me share with you an unconventional love story that seems to stretch the very definition of romance. It’s about an English woman, Amanda, who’s head over heels for… a chandelier. Yes, you heard it right.

Henry Miller once said, “In the realm of love, everything is possible.” Little did he know his words would perfectly encapsulate Amanda’s unique love affair.

Living in Leeds, in the north of England, Amanda represents a rare group known as objectophiles or objectum-sexuals, meaning she experiences romantic feelings towards objects, not people. This unusual orientation surfaced during her teenage years.

Falling for Non-Human Entities

“I first fell in love with a drum set when I was 14. Years later, my affections turned towards the American flag and the Statue of Liberty,” Amanda shared in an interview with Truly, a British media outlet.

Her “relationship” with the chandelier she affectionately named “Lumière” fills her life with happiness. “He’s fun and beautiful, over 100 years old, and symmetrical… I found him on eBay from Germany. I immediately fell in love with his energy and positive vibes,” Amanda recounts, describing how she enjoys caressing Lumière’s crystals, mesmerized by the sparkles they emit.

Facing Misunderstanding and Judgment

Understandably, Amanda’s unconventional relationship is met with skepticism and sometimes outright dismissal by those around her. “It’s hard because nobody understands me,” she laments.

Despite facing ridicule and judgment, Amanda remains hopeful that people’s perceptions can change if they take the time to listen to her story. “I’m doing this interview to open people’s eyes not just about objectum-sexuality but to anyone feeling excluded or different because what matters is your health and happiness,” she explains.

“In general, I think there’s still a lot of misunderstanding in the world. But people are becoming more open to differences. There’s more acceptance than before, but there’s certainly more work to be done,” concludes Amanda, who isn’t closed off to the idea of experiencing human love again, having done so twice in the past.

We wish all the happiness in the world to Amanda and Lumière!

As for how long this extraordinary love has lasted? Well, that remains a bit of a mystery. Maybe for eons…
