GEORGA MICHAEL her commemorative coins are released in the UK

Music news

The Royal Mint, the United Kingdom’s mint, has minted a series of commemorative coins dedicated to George Michael.

The coin dedicated to the pop star who died on 25 December 2016 at the age of 53, is worth 5 pounds and was designed by the Sardinian artist Sandra Deiana and is inspired by the music video of “Faith”, the song that gives the title to her first solo album by Michael (1987), which with over 25 million copies sold was one of his biggest successes.

The coin can be ordered online for £15.50 and is part of the Royal Mint’s collection of ‘musical legends’, which includes those of David Bowie, Elton John and Queen, and on its reverse side is a portrait of King Charles III.

In addition to the 5 pound coin, one was made in silver with colored inserts and one in gold, both in limited editions: they cost 108.5 and 2,770 pounds (127 and 3,240 euros) respectively.
