From 2025 FIMI doubles the number of sales necessary for gold and platinum disc certifications

From the first week of 2025 the rules for gold and platinum disc certifications will change. The necessary numbers effectively double, but only for singles, who will pass

from the current 50,000 units to 100,000 units sold for the gold record and from the current 100,000 units to 200,000 units sold for the platinum record and multiples of platinum.

The certifications of albums and compilations however remain unchanged at 25,000 units for gold disc and 50,000 for platinum.

“These new parameters reflect the evolution of the Italian music market, characterized by the increase in digital use. With an increasingly larger audience for each song, the update aims to more faithfully represent the real commercial success and cultural impact of musical works”, FIMI declared in a press note.
