Eminem's mother dies at age 69

As reported by TMZ, Eminem's mother, Debbie Nelson, died of lung cancer at the age of 69.

Eminem's relationship with his mother was notoriously difficult and up-and-down.

Early in her career, the Dretroit rapper publicly accused her of being careless and abusive on the track “Cleanin' Out My Closet.”

Debbie in response sued him for defamation in 1999 and wrote a memoir “My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem” in 2007.

Over time, however, the two attempted to reconcile. Eminem's 2013 track “Headlights” marked a turning point in this regard. In the song the rapper expressed regret for his harsh words towards his mother and apologized for their always tense relationship.

In recent years, things between the two were a little better, so much so that Debbie congratulated Eminem on being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
