Dua Lipa finds the teacher who changed her life, a poignant sequence

Music news

On December 8, the singer delivered a live performance on the show “An Evening with Dua Lipa” broadcast on the British channel ITV1. The moving interview with his former singing teacher, during the event, moved fans.

Dua Lipa was on stage at the “Royal Albert Hall” in London for the show “An Evening with Dua Lipa” broadcast on December 8 on the English channel ITV1. A breathtaking performance, live and in public, accompanied by a choir and the British orchestra “The Héritage Orchestra”. The opportunity to listen to 20 tracks from the singer's pop repertoire in a striking symphonic version. As a treat, Dua Lipa was joined on stage by legend Elton John for a duet on “Rocket Man” and “Cold Heart”

“Ray, for me, changed my life”

But the show is not just about a concert, as impressive as it is. It also includes an interview with the pop star punctuated with archive images. Enough to capture moments of emotion, notably when Dua Lipa's former singing teacher appears on screen, joined by surprise by the singer from “Training Season”. Ten years since the student had last seen his teacher. Suffice it to say that tears quickly appear in the corners of both of their eyes, especially when the international star sends his deep thanks to the one who “changed (his) life”.

“You gave me self-confidence, you made me feel like I had something worth having,” Dua Lipa tells him, before adding: “if I got to this point, it’s thanks to you and I want to say thank you.” A particularly poignant sequence which marked a very rich evening.

On the show Mornings on CBSthe pop star returned to this particular surprise in her eyes. “In fact, he was the hardest person to contact. The hardest of all, explained Dua Lipa. He thought he was going to come and do an interview. You know, teachers are incredibly important. A good teacher can really change the trajectory of a child's life, truly. And Ray, for me, changed my life. He made me believe I could do it. He told me I had something special worth pursuing. And I held on to that. That's really what kept me coming back, was the fact that Ray was like, 'Hey, maybe you have something here, work on it, keep going.' I think about it all the time. He is someone I think of very often because of what he taught me. And so, to have experienced that moment with him was really special.”

The album entitled “Dua Lipa Live From the Royal Albert Hall”, composed of tracks retracing the evening, is available for listening. The show, meanwhile, was released on December 15 on Paramount Plus and the CBS channel.
