DREFGOLD “Prova del 9” is his new single feat. TONY BOY

Music news

TEST OF 9 is the title of DrefGold’s new single (out Friday 8 December) which will see him collaborate with TONY BOY, a young talent balanced between rap, trap and melodies.

This feat was born from the friendship and professional relationship that DrefGold and Tony Boy have established in these years in which they found themselves working together in the studio. After having closed several tracks, the definitive “PROVA DEL 9” was recorded practically “one shot” in one evening, almost like a freestyle back and forth, with the contribution of producers KIID, Sadturs, Blssd, Bx Made It.

From his 2018 debut album “Kanaglia” (released on SferaEbbasta and Charlie Charles’s label, BHMG) through to his second album “Elo” in 2020, this 26-year-old from Bologna has conquered, stream after stream, a place among the cornerstones of Italian trap and an increasingly compact fan base.

Hypnotic sounds accompanied by direct rhymes, in DrefGold’s music the influence of American trap is evident thanks to a passion for hip hop music born and raised since adolescence. After the first experiments and the first recordings made in the small music studio that he had built in his bedroom at the age of 12 and a period in the BoomBap Haze and Pro Evolution Joint crews, at 18 he published his first mixtape which allowed him to make himself known to many audience fascinated by his musical style.

Two years later he found himself collaborating with Capo Plaza and Sfera Ebbasta for the song “Tesla” (from Capo Plaza’s album “20”) and with Sfera Ebbasta alone in “Sciroppo” (taken from Sfera’s album “Rockstar”). .

His first album “KANAGLIA” (released in July 2018) debuted at second position in the FIMI charts and 4 singles were extracted from the album which obtained the Platinum record (“Boss”) and two gold records (“ Kanaglia” and “Occupied”). The album immediately achieved great success among young people, thanks to the breath of freshness dictated by unique and innovative sounds and lyrics.

His second album “Elo” (title that derives from his name, Elia Specolizzi) was released in 2020 (and is certified GOLD) and contains singles that have become real milestones of the trap genre in Italy, such as “Snitch and Impicci” in collaboration with FSK Satellite and “Elegante” with Sfera Ebbasta. Both tracks were certified platinum. In 2021 the Bolognese rapper returns to the scene with the re-pack of his latest project: “Elo Overtime”.

DrefGold dedicated 2022 and 2023 to the development of his new projects and to a tour that took him around Italy with over 50 dates in the main clubs, numbers that confirm his role as a “big” within the scene.

Since his debut DrefGold has never stopped collaborating with other artists and releasing unreleased pieces. The list of his collaborations with the main names of Italian trap is very long and goes from SferaEbbasta (his first supporter and mentor) to Side Baby (together in “Nuvola”), from Dark Polo Gang to Izi (“Oh Mami” ), from Guè (“Borsello”) to the American rapper Smokepurpp (“Heavy”) up to forays into Italian indie with Lo Stato Sociale.
