Deep Red returns to the cinema for the 50th anniversary

Music news

Fifty years after its release, deep red of Dario Argento returns to theaters to celebrate its absolute masterpiece status of the Italian thriller-horror.

A film that, between dreamlike visions and hypnotic tension, continues to enchant and disturb the audience with its unique mixture of suspense, music and stylized violence.

Removed by Daria Nicolodi, David Hemmings and Gabriele Lavia, the film owes part of its immortal charm also to the famous soundtrack signed by Giorgio Gaslini and the Goblin of Claudio Simonetti. A revolutionary work, in which Argento destructures the genre that he himself had contributed to defining, transforming him into a fragmented, free and anarchist nightmare, capable of generating timeless restlessness.

Among the major collections of the 1974/75 season, deep red has left an indelible mark in world cinema, influencing directors such as John Carpenter, Eli Roth and James Wan.

Starting from March 2025, the film will return to Italian cinemas with special screenings throughout the year, thanks to the collaboration between RTI-Mediaset and Cat People. The list of updated rooms will be available on catpeople.it and their social channels.

After this celebratory event, Cat People will propose a cycle dedicated to the Japanese director Shinya Tsukamoto, starting from March 13 with Hokage – Shadow of Fire, followed by the cult Tetsuo (from April 7) and other works of the filmmaker for a total of 9 films.
