On May 24, the rock world will celebrate 50 years since the release of David Bowie’s Diamond Dogs. On this occasion, a remastered version in half-speed version from the original master will be available in the form of picture vinyl. The opportunity to rediscover a now cult record, marked by the presence of the single “Rebel Rebel”, which reached first place in the United Kingdom and fifth in the United States. In France, it had reached seventh place in the sales rankings. There are also the singles “Diamond Dogs” and “1984”.

This title is representative of the making of the record, which follows an attempt to obtain the rights to the famous book by George Orwell with a view to a stage adaptation. Thus, the pieces of Diamond Dogs revolve around an apocalyptic scenario, illustrated by a controversial cover representing David Bowie as a half-man, half-dog creature, painted by the Belgian artist Guy Peellaert from photos by Terry O’Neill .

The editorial team tells you everything about the making of this record.
