David Bisbal celebrates 20 years of ‘Bulería’ and 22 of his second place in ‘Operación Triunfo’

Music news

This week we were living a real emotional journey with David Bisbal that was mounted on the DeLorean (nostalgic moment for the generation of Return to the future) to experience a coming and going in time jumping from success to success in their concert WECB Basic Santander. They were present there Omar, Alex, Salma and Violet of Triumph operation. Noemi Galera and Manu GuixThey sent him a video message. They also had their moment Sweet and Almácor, his friend from the orchestra, José Zapata, a mother and daughter who made us all cry with their beautiful love story for Bisbal.

On Saturday we saw him at the gala of the Goya Awards and closes the week celebrating, this February 11, the 20 years since the release of their second album: Bulería. A special day for him because that same day, but two years before, he had been a finalist for Triumph operation, a second place that changed his life radically. So, double celebration.

We have used the video library to remember that press conference he gave to present this new work. “After the success of Latin heartwhich has sold more than one million seven hundred thousand copies worldwide, we present his second work, Buleríarecorded in Miami with Kike Santander and songs written by various authors, although I want to state that David has also signed some of them,” he introduced him at that event. Ricardo Campoypresident of Vale Music, his record label at that time.

Many might think that there was a lot of pressure on this launch due to everything that Bisbal was moving at that time and the million-dollar figures of his debut, but Campoy assured that “there was no marked figure,”the album will sell what it has to sell. At no time do we put pressure on you to feel inhibited because you have to sell a certain number of copies.” We must remember that it was time for piracy and the day before its publication, the album was already on the sheets of the manteros. Downloads were not yet present.

An album that came out in Spain and America simultaneously and that had a second launch phase in Asia. An album that exceeded all expectations and that helped Bisbal continue to grow around the world. Until Camila Cabello has sung Bulería.

Disc details

With this second album the big difference was time. Unlike his debut, right after leaving the academy, this album was made more calmly and dedicating more space to taking care of the voice. She did it thinking live, with six ballads and six fast ones.

“There is everything from Latin rock, dance, rumba, which cannot be missed, and a rumba that becomes salsa. When we listen to these topics there are many countries involved. How to forget It is perfect for Puerto Rico, Spain and the Dominican Republic because it becomes a sauce. Hear the boom It has those Brazilian rhythms with that batucada. Bulería It is very Spanish“, said the artist at that time.

He was happy because a second album meant that, in his concerts, he would no longer have to rely on covers. The production was growing in their concerts that were adding elements to make them more spectacular. “I want to enjoy, enjoy, move forward and evolve with everything”said Bisbal.

Debut as a composer

He also talked about Get naked woman, his first song as a composer. “He was born one afternoon, leaving singing class with José Miguel, and I told him, ‘let’s improvise’, and that’s how it came out. I still have it in the recorder that the chorus, the pre-chorus and the chorus came out all in one row. It was wonderful to feel what the melody is,” he said.

“In the lyrics we wanted something different. It’s a rogue song, so to speak, with a bit of cockiness. But it is mixed with those classical sounds, it is recorded with a symphony, you don’t know what it can feel like with those instruments behind it. “He continued. She assured that it would be a dream for him to be able to give a concert with a symphony. He did not know at that moment that years later it would stop being a dream and become a reality.

Little time as a couple

Of course, he made it clear that he did not want to become the composer of all his songs, that he also felt strongly about those written by other authors. He pointed between those songs I collapsea version that fit with how badly he had had all that time of Latin American conquest by having to be separated from his family and his partner who, at that time, was Chenoa.

Although he was in a relationship, he was convinced that it was time to work “and move forward, but everything is not always going to be this intense. Also I would like to coincide with those great monsters who have been singing all their lives, they are fathers of families. and they can do everything.” Shortly after this presentation came the breakup, one of the most high-profile of those two thousand years.

A very Spanish song

Although the title song of the album was the one that stood out above all. A song that the record company initially told him that it was possible that they would not understand it in Latin America. “It’s nice, it’s a way to take risks. And saying what it means Bulería For me it is beautiful, it is something very ours. After all, It is a rumba that is something that everyone dances, people who are happy, dance it”, he pointed out.

For the video clip he created a story and had to act a little. Although we had already seen him in the soap opera Class 406In reality, there he only had to play himself with a performance and an interview in the dressing room. He acknowledged that when it came to acting in the video clip he was a little embarrassed at first, but then “I make friends with everyone who works there and that’s it.”.

The videos of Latin heart and Ave Maria he had recorded them in Almería and repeated them with Bulería hoping that the same luck would give him. There we saw him in dangerous planes on natural cliffs. “I’m crazy, I take the risks because I like it a lot. You have to die from something, if you die at work, nothing happens.“You die at ease,” he said in the most natural way.

He had no problem talking about the money that such a meteoric career was bringing him. “I haven’t really had time to take advantage of the money because you’re constantly working.. Everything I have today is out of necessity and so that it is not wasted, to be in the bank, I invest it. And then for day-to-day and work needs, clothes and such. If I have to treat myself, I will treat myself too, when I have time,” she said, denying that the rumors about buying a house in Miami were true.

David’s curls

20 years ago, an important topic was also David’s look with his curls. Although we had seen him with his hair pulled back in a Viceroy campaign, he was clear that his look “is with his hair down. Now, by having it longer, we have much more play. This image was chosen with longer hair. There are many dance songs, a bit to move your hair.”

He confessed that his biggest dream was to record an album, and he had already achieved it twice. “I would love to last a lifetime on stage, die on stage”, was his new goal, “being successful or not being successful.”

And there he is still 20 later, enjoying the stages, his millions of followers and that same passion for work and music. Only now he finds time to dedicate to his family, to his wife. Rosanna Zanetti and his three children.
