Music news

The promotion of the next Cigarettes After Sex album begins with the premiere of the first single, “Tejano Blue”. The band’s new album will be titled, X’s.

Cigarettes After Sex He inaugurates his new musical stage by presenting the first single from his next studio album. “Tejano Blue” is a song that takes up the musical influences that marked the listening of Greg Gonzalez –leader of the group– while growing up in El Paso, Texas. His new album will be titled, X’s and will capture the complexity of romantic emotions as only the group knows how to do.

The characteristic dream pop of Cigarettes After Sex is still present in the band’s sound identity, but “Tejano Blue” marks a rhythm a little faster than what the compositions of Gonzalez They usually are. Even so, the air of sentimental calm and sensual melancholy remains present as an indelible mark of the group.

When I was living in New York I finally started listening to Selena’s ‘Como la Flor’ at the same time I was listening to a lot of Cocteau Twins. I had the idea to combine their sounds in some way, which felt a little strange, but also felt like a genuine rediscovery and reconnection with the music that surrounded me in my youth,” shares Greg González about “Tejano Blue.”

X’s It seems to be a musical project that moves the pop influences of the 50s and 60s towards the slow ballads of the 70s and 80s. Cigarettes After Sex takes inspiration from a world of diverse relationships, but this time the album focuses on a single relationship that lasted four years. The vibe that results from this new musical path is something similar to the reflection of tears in a disco ball on the dance floor. The group will present these new songs on their next tour around the world and will have a concert at the Sport’s palace from Mexico City on October 15.
