Camera Obscura presents “We’re Going to Make It in a Man’s World”

The legendary Scottish band, Camera Obscurahas given a new twist to the music scene with his recent single titled “We’re Going to Make It in a Man’s World”part of his long-awaited album Look to the East, Look to the West, scheduled to release May 3 via Merge. This new release marks a milestone in the group’s career, being their first album in more than 10 years.

The letter of “We’re Going to Make It in a Man’s World” ironically challenges gender stereotypes in the music industry, while the melody conveys optimism. Co-written by keyboardist Donna Maciocia For the movie Icarus from the filmmaker Margaret Salmonthis song stands as an anthem of strength and resistance for women fighting for equality in a world historically dominated by men.

In a recent interview, Tracyanne Campbell shared her perspective on the creative process behind this album, highlighting the importance of addressing issues relevant to women in the music industry and questioning their relevance and place in it.

The album Look to the East, Look to the West will feature songs that explore themes such as love, loss and the passage of time, and promises to be an emotionally moving experience for listeners.

With “We’re Going to Make It in a Man’s World”, Camera Obscura demonstrates once again its ability to reinvent itself and remain relevant in the contemporary music scene, while continuing to defy expectations and embrace diversity and female empowerment.
