Maybe it’s the midlife crisis but the fact is that Calvin Harris seems to have set a deadline for his presence on stages around the world. During an interview, the Scot confirmed that as time goes by he wants to create new music in the studio more and less and less and less to tour around the world to present his latest developments in electronic music.
At the moment there is nothing definitive as the DJ himself explained in his interview in Capital Dance by Capital FM. “I’ve always said that once I’m over 50, I don’t want to see myself DJing. The more commercial aspect (of DJing) gets a little… a little fishy. I think I’d rather be in the studio making songs.”
His plan for that moment includes not only creating new music but also being a producer for other artists, adding his touch to their creations: “I think that’s where most of my talent lies: making something sound good. That’s why I would like it other people’s records sound good.
During the interview he was asked when the deadline would be when he would say goodbye to the stage, Calvin Harris joked: “42, 43?” He confessed between laughs. We cannot imagine that the Scottish DJ is going to say goodbye to the live mixing console without offering one last tour with shows on the main stages and festivals around the world.
His agenda, for now, is full of commitments. This next week we will see him performing alongside Ellie Goulding at the O2 Arena during the 2024 Brit Awards ceremony. Together with the British soloist, she has signed 3 collaborations so it could be a spectacular live performance in addition to being able to win the Song of the Year award thanks to Miracle and the Brits for Best Pop Performer and Best Dance Performer.
Calvin Harris has taken a liking to repeating collaborations. The Scot has teamed up again with one of the artists with whom he has the most chemistry in the studio. Nothing more and nothing less than with Rag’n’Bone Man. The two musicians have once again united their styles on the catchy Lovers In A Past Life. The song comes almost five years after the two artists made everyone dance and jump to the rhythm of Giant. A song that got millions of views and was listed as multi-platinum. Not only that, the duo even won the Ivor Novello award and was nominated for Best Single at the BRIT Awards 2020. Not bad!
