Brit Awards 2024: Kylie Minogue will receive Global Icon recognition

Music news

The Brit Awards 2024 have confirmed that Kylie Minogue to receive BRITs Global Icon award at the delivery ceremony to be held next Saturday March 2 at the O2 Arena in London. A recognition of his career spanning five decades as one of the most successful and iconic music stars in the world.

The announcement by the British music industry also includes the fact of joining the name of the performer to a line-up of performances that is already made up of Raye, the top nominee of the night, and Dua Lipa, probably the biggest international star to come out of the British Isles.

Kylie’s brilliant 30+ year career has seen her amass sales of over 80 million records worldwide, 5 billion streams across major streaming platforms and 9 number one albums in the UK.

His many awards include 3 BRIT Awards, 18 ARIA Awards, 2 MTV Awards and 2 Grammy Awards. Kylie is the only female artist to achieve a number one album in five consecutive decades in the UK. In 2023, she released her studio album, Tension, preceded by the hit single Padam Padam, which earned Kylie her second Grammy Award earlier this month.

“I am beyond excited to be honored with the Global Icon Award and to join such a roster of incredible artists. The UK has always been a home away from home, so the BRITs have a very special place in my heart. “I have amazing memories of the awards over the years and can’t wait to get back on the BRIT stage. See you at the O2!” Kylie Minogue has confessed after learning of the recognition from the British industry.

The Australian writes her name alongside other illustrious stars such as Elton John, Robbie Williams, David Bowie and Taylor Swift, among others. Kylie is the first winner of awards that will be delivered through public voting (in some categories) and by jury (in the rest).

Raye is the top favorite for these awards with 7 prize options (thanks to the increase in Brit Awards categories). Taking a look at the top nominees, the only thing missing is Central Cee and J Hus for confirming their performance for what is always a great night of live music and emotions. Among the nominated international artists we find the name of great pop divas such as Taylor Swift, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo or Miley Cyrus who also have the possibility of joining the line-up of performances.
