Music news

  • What is the origin of International Weird Music Day?

Blink-182 has always known how to surprise us. Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker had announced that this Friday, August 23, their new single would be released, ALL IN MY HEAD. But the biggest surprise was when the day came and we saw that the punk band had an ace up their sleeve: a second song, the song NO FUN.

The American group reveals to us this way the first two previews of what will be the second part of One More Time, the album they released in 2023 and with which they have been touring since before it came out, passing through Madrid last October. In total, the album will have 8 new additionsincluding ALL IN MY HEAD and NO FUNand will be released on September 6th. The rest of the songs are CAN'T GO BACK, EVERY OTHER WEEKEND, EVERYONE EVERYWHERE, IF YOU NEVER LEFT, ONE NIGHT STAND and TAKE ME IN.

From what we have been able to hear, It's not that Blink-182 is going back to their original sound, it's that they never left it. The band's punk has remained fresh regardless of their career years, having the ability to both transport us with nostalgia to their first albums, and to feel it strongly today.

ALL IN MY HEAD speaks of an internal struggle. Written by the three band members, it tells how sometimes being on tour is an uphill struggle, to the point that they themselves don't know if what's happening to them is real or “all in their heads.”

On the other hand, in NO FUN, Mark, Tom and Travis realize they are no longer 18and they wonder “what has happened since the 90s, when punk was independent”, remembering with nostalgia the times when they started in music.

Apart from ALL IN MY HEAD and NO FUN, Some lucky ones have already been able to hear another new song live. The band has been singing CAN'T GO BACK at the concerts of their summer tourthe first time being at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, on June 20.

Also, a curious fact is that Several of the additional tracks that will be included in this second part almost made the final cut of the original album. In a photo of Travis Barker in the studio dated late 2023, we can read on a chalkboard titles from the album's tracklist, where names such as ONE NIGHT STAND, NO FUN, TAKE ME IN and EVERY OTHER WEEKEND.

There are still two weeks left until it comes out One More Time… Part-2. Will we have to wait until then to hear the rest of the tracks? There's no way of knowing if Blink-182 will have any more surprises in store, but for now, We can now enjoy ALL IN MY HEAD and NO FUN to liven up the wait.
