ANDREA LASZLO DE SIMONE wins the César Award for best original music

Music news

Yesterday evening, February 23, at the ceremony of the 49th edition of the César Awards, the most important French cinema awards, Andrea Laszlo De Simone won the César Award for the best original music of Animal Kingdom (Le Règne Animal), a genre film by Thomas Cailley.

An even more important result if you consider that Andrea is the first Italian in history to receive an award in this category.

For this reason too, the surprise was as great as the satisfaction was immense. In the words of Andrea Laszlo De Simone who collects the award there is all his emotion:

This film was an incredible experience for me, it’s a political film: there’s adventure, there’s drama, there’s everything in this film! Thanks to the actors who inspired me, it’s not easy to explain, it’s not easy to make music for a film. It’s my second film and it’s amazing for me, I’m really excited!

THE FILM

Animal Kingdom (Le Règne Animal) it was the feature film with the most nominations – twelve in total – and last night it won another four Césars. After having achieved considerable success at the box office in France, it will arrive in Italian cinemas from 20 June.

The humanity represented in the film is immersed in chaos and witnesses the awakening of its animal side. The intensity of the work lies in an emotional, funny and at the same time touching journey between a father and his son.

A film through which Thomas Cailley, with the complicity of Andrea Laszlo De Simone’s music, elevates the cinematic experience towards new horizons, far from the usual dystopias.

A soundtrack that blends acoustic, electronic and classical elements: a powerful musical composition, conducted on the tones of the film, on its naturalism and on the narration of a universal mythology.

This time too Andrea produced, played and recorded in the poetic solitude of his Ecce Homo Studio in Turin, completing everything with arrangements for a small orchestra of strings, wind instruments and voices.

The result is an original soundtrack that is a living, sensual and organic experience.

The soundtrack of Le Règne Animal, released on 4 October by Ekleroshock in France, USA, Canada, Belgium and UK and by 42 Records in Italy and the rest of the world, also contains “Il Regno animali” a new song by the singer-songwriter who has become these years a true cult artist not only in Italy, but also in France.
