Alicia Keys releases ‘Lifeline’ for the OST of the film ‘The Color Purple’

After announcing the release of his next album, The Diary of Alicia Keys 20now the New York singer has confirmed that she will be part of the original soundtrack of the new film Warner Bros. Pictures, The Color Purple.

Lifeline is the title of the new song Alicia Keys and it is the first song that is known so far from the OST. In the lyrics, the R&B singer reminds you that you are not alone, that she will be there in difficult times and offers to act as a lifeguard, as already mentioned in the name. Her lyrics have been entirely composed by her and, although there is no official video clip, it can already be heard on YouTube:

The soundtrack of The Color Purple will be performed by many more artists, who have already been confirmed. Among them are names as powerful as Jorja Smith, Usher, Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion and H.E.R.who also stars in the film.

The reissue of ‘The Color Purple’

The Color Purpleeither The color purple in Spanish, it is a film directed in 1985 by Steven Spielbergbased on a novel by Alice Walkerwith the same name, which was the winner of a Pulitzer Prize in 1983. At the time, the American director’s film was nominated for 11 awards Oscar although, in the end, he did not get any.

Now, Blitz Bazawule has reedited this drama, with the help of Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Scott Sanders and Quincy Jones in the production. And at the front of the script is Marcus Gardleyaward-winning playwright WGAand which has been based on the original novel by walker: the telling of a story of the abuse suffered by women and the African-American community in the United States during the 20th century.

The cast that makes up this new version of this feature film is led by H.E.R., Tony Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, Halle Bailey, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Fantasia Barrino.

‘The Diary of Alicia Keys 20’

Next December 1st, Alicia Keys will present The Diary of Alicia Keys 20, a very special album that commemorates the release of their second album. This new edition will only be released in digital version and will include 24 songs, including nine extras.

Accompanying this new tracklist, the New Yorker has also released four video clips: Karma, You Don’t Know My Name, If I Ain’t Got You and Diary (live version). And to finish with a celebration in style, Alicia Keys will hold a unique concert at Webster Hall in New York on December 1st.
