Alex Van Halen’s new book, Brothers, to be released October 22, will tell the story of his partnership with his brother Eddie.
Eddie and Alex Van Halen enjoyed the closest musical relationship imaginable, playing together for nearly six decades. Even during Van Halen’s slowest times, when the group was between singers, the brothers rehearsed at Eddie’s 5150 Studios almost every day. Van Halen drummer Alex has remained almost entirely silent since Eddie’s death from cancer in October 2020, sharing only a brief statement: ” Hey, Ed. I love you. See you on the other side. Van Halen singers David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar have both published memoirs, and there has been no shortage of books about Van Halen over the years, including the memoirs of former manager Noel Monk, Runnin’ with the Devil: A Backstage Pass to the Wild Times, Loud Rock, and the Down and Dirty Truth Behind the Making of Van Halen and Greg Renoff’s impeccably researched book, Van Halen Rising: How a Southern California Backyard Party Band Saved Heavy Metal.
