Alex Marquez He is one of the 16 contestants who have revitalized the format of Triumph operation in its premiere on a platform with Amazon Prime Video. Within the academy he lived great moments with his classmates, especially with Denna.
He was one of those who had to endure the pressure of nominations from the beginning. He managed to prevail Omar Samba already Salma Diazbut in his third nomination he was expelled in front of Paul Thin.
He didn’t make it to the final, but he won the love of many fans who were looking forward to his first single: The mode. “Within the academy I had another one to take, but they proposed that one to me and I liked the idea that it was like something conductive between what I had been doing and what I wanted to do and I think the proposal was cool, I accepted it and we went for it,” he says about the single.
He is clear that his path involves having one foot in pop and another in urban. “Mixing concepts, I think there are very few people here in Spain who do it And yes, I would like to connect the continents,” he says.
Assimilating the change
His time at the Academy has changed his life: “Pretend that you have come from being at home, sitting on a sofa, thinking that one day you will be able to sing your songs, you will be able to make a Wizink, you will be able to make a Palau and, suddenly, that materialize overnight, It is so extremely heavy that it is a host of brutal realitybut it is received with open arms.”
It is difficult to assimilate such a sudden change and it is not the first, nor will it be the last, that ensures that it is necessary to resort to specialists to help assimilate everything. “It has to be done, There is nothing like taking care of yourself, especially emotionally and psychologically.. It is very good to take care of your physique, but if your physique is great, but your head is knocked out, it is of absolutely no use. And yes, I am in the process of trying to deal with some things and the truth is that now it feels stronger than ever to have to force myself to do it. No one should ever feel obligated to do it, to go to a psychologist, but it is a pretty big duty to go.”
What is most difficult for him to fit in is “the shock of the before and after and that things do not work out as you expected because at the end of the day you expect one thing when you enter the program, when you leave, another different thing, Then there is the hate, then there is the other who thinks I don’t know what, as I say, Everyone has the right to give their opinion, but if they give their opinion, they should do it with their heads because the other person can feel very judged and it can hurt them a lot.”.
OT Tour
Now he continues to maintain a good relationship with his colleagues and they have a tour ahead of them with very important dates, quite a challenge. “I speak for myself, I am screwed. We come from a program that is cool, that we had an incredible time, but from that to filling a Wizink, to filling a Palau, to go on tour, that without Fuegirola, that Valencia, that the Port, that Granada, and It’s like very heavy. You don’t expect something like this to happen so quickly and so abruptly.”, he reflects.
“The 16 of us go together throughout Spain, It’s going to be crazy. If we messed up inside the academy, I don’t want to imagine it outside of it,” she adds.
We’ll see if he gets a new tattoo after that experience. When he left the academy, he already became one. “My first post-academy tattoo has been two, well, three, one of them is ‘julay’ and the other two are these that I have here, the cold soup and the casting number. It was those because right at the final casting, with the five of us, Borja, Fran, Adri and Salma, we decided that, if any of the five enters, we are all going to get tattoos, the cold soup. Thanks to Salma, she was the one who chose the topic and thanks to that, in the end, not one of us entered, but two of us, so it’s up to the five of us. Not her yet, I’m the only one who has it. Guys, I’m watching you closely,” she says.
Future collaborations
It has a tour, it has a single, and it has a great projection. And being in the era of collaborations, he does not rule them out. He has already been in contact with some artists.
“From time to time we talk on networks, I have spoken with Norielwith soge Also, he is a boy from the other side of the pond, with Flaviuswith Samantha, from previous editions. There is only one contact when we see each other and have a drink, but always thinking that in the future we can work together,” he explains.
“Yes, I already have several names in mind, which we have already discussed with the team and yes, there are some names already in mind that I want to work with and looking forward to that day. Both on one side and the other. Maybe I’m going more to the urban side, but there are artists I want to collaborate with who are from the other side of the pond who are on both sides.. “Let them wear something pop that can take it to the urban and from urban to pop,” he adds.
Not only is he, the rest of his colleagues are also starting new paths. Many artists at the same time, something that might scare some. “It’s cool that 16 people are going to dedicate themselves to music, but it’s scary because you always want to have your place in music. I’m just saying that, apart from working hard for what you want, that there are no rivalries, that there is no competition, that everyone goes about their own things, their music and that we truly do what we have come to do, which is music and not to pull our hair out“, asks.
If we look to the future, he is clear that, within a year, he sees himself “releasing a lot of music. A lot of music. I hope and believe that still with the 16 companions doing many thingsbecause it is going to be longer and surely sharing music with them.”
