Yesterday, Valentine’s Day, one of the most anticipated premieres of the season arrived, Bob Marley: One Lovethe biographical film about the king of ‘reggae’.
The new biopic about Bob Marley, whose soundtrack is now available in digital format, has been directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. The film celebrates the life and music of an icon who inspired generations through his message of love and unity.
On the big screen for the first time, the public will be able to Discover Marley’s story of overcoming adversity and the journey behind his groundbreaking music. The film is produced in collaboration with the Marley family and stars Kingsley Ben-Adir as the legendary musician and Lashana Lynch like his wife Rita.
To celebrate the premiere of Bob Marley: One LoveUniversal Music will publish a new and limited edition of the legendary Marley album, Exodus. What was one of the most important albums in Bob Marley’s and reggae’s career was published in 1977.
This new version of Exodus includes the original album with an alternative cover, an exclusive 10” vinyl with little-known bonus songs and an essay written by Jamaican music historian Herbert Miller.
“Exodus is an eternal document that publicly reveals the thoughts and reflections of the life of one of the most revered and revolutionary artists of the 20th century”Miller writes in the new essay. “It shows Bob’s fears and vulnerability, his steadfast commitment to making humanity as equal and ideal as imaginable, and spreading his Rastafari spirituality to the four corners of the Earth.”.
The new LP of Exodus includes dub versions of Exodus, jamming and Punk Reggae Party (associated with Exodus as side B of jamming), in addition to the less known rootswhich was originally released as a B-side of Waiting In Vain.
The American magazine Time cited it as the Best Album of the 20th Century (“Every song is a classic, from the messages of love to the revolutionary anthems”) and the BBC as “the album that defined the 20th Century.” The legacy of Exodus It extends beyond genres, eras and continents whose impact brought Third World culture and politics to the forefront.
