A movie about 21 Savage’s story is on the way

McLaughlin will star in American Dream: The 21 Savage Story, the film that tells the story of 21 Savage.

Born in the United Kingdom, the rapper grew up in the United States, overcoming poverty, crime and numerous obstacles in his life to become one of the most famous rappers in the world.

It was 2019 when 21 Savage was arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents for overstaying his visa by 13 years.

21 Savage, in fact, was not born in Atlanta or even in the United States, he was born in London and was brought to Atlanta at the age of seven. This means that when his visa expired the following year, he was still a child and this qualifies him as a Dreamer under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

At the time, President Trump announced plans to phase out DACA in 2017, but his plans were never implemented.

21 Savage was very influential in Atlanta, he organized annual drives for children to receive free haircuts, clothes and school supplies. He contributed to an anti-bullying campaign and started a scholarship program for low-income students.

Not only that, shortly before his arrest, 21 Savage performed one of his most popular songs, “A Lot,” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, in which he talks about children stuck at the border.

In September 2023, 21 Savage officially became a permanent resident of the United States and was legally allowed to travel outside the country.

After 20 years he returned to London, where he held a concert at the O2 Arena.

21 Savage represents the so-called American dream, he grew up in the United States and went from rags to riches, only to give back to the community that supported him.
