A CERTAIN RATIO new album in April “It All Comes Down to This”

Music news

“It All Comes Down to This” is the title of A CERTAIN RATIO’s new album, their thirteenth studio album, out via Mute on April 19, 2024.

The first single, which is also the title track of the album, anticipates the album’s release.

QUOTES

The album is yet another distillation of their essential sound that they recorded only as a trio: Jez Kerr, Martin Moscrop and Donald Johnson.

It’s the Ratio that removes the safety net,” says Kerr, explaining the decision to eliminate excess and return to the band’s basic ingredients. “Every element of everything we did on this album was a change.”

“It wasn’t about eliminating everyone else, it was about ‘let’s find the thing that makes us work,’” Johnson adds. “And we know it’s just the three of us being as simple as possible: no frills, no big overdubs. Just visceral and happening right now.

We wrote the album while the world was in turmoil,” explains Moscrop.

And it still is. If you think about climate change, corporate warfare, the environment, Trump in power, Johnson, the war in Ukraine, Israel and Palestine, it really all comes down to this. It’s probably the most political album we’ve written.”
