I Am: Celine Dion » will tell the story of the singer’s life and her fight against illness.

Celine Dion’s life, legacy and battle with stiff person syndrome will be explored in a new documentary titled I Am: Celine Dion. Amazon MGM has acquired the film, which will stream on Prime.

Directed by Peabody and Emmy Award winner Irene Taylor, the documentary took place over a year. It will offer a rare insight into his personal life, taking viewers inside the recording studio and into his home. While exploring the singer’s immense career and journey to the top, it will also offer the first portrait of the singer’s sudden health problems that left her future as an artist uncertain.

The last two years have been a real challenge for me, from discovering my illness to learning how to live with it and manage it, without letting it define me.declared Celine Dion in a press release. As the road to resuming my singing career continues, I’ve realized how much I miss being able to see my fans. During this absence, I decided to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis. »

The last ten years of Celine Dion’s life were difficult. Her husband and brother died within two days of each other in January 2016. In 2018, she announced the end of her long residency in Las Vegas. A year later, she released Courage, his first English-language album in six years. It charted at number one and preceded a world tour, which was cut short due to the pandemic.

She planned to return to Las Vegas in 2022 and complete the tour Courage World Tour when she suddenly canceled all dates due to persistent muscle spasms. In December 2022, Dion revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects one in a million people.
