The unmissable jazz festival continues to honor its incredible heritage with a compilation tribute to Etta James and Nina Simone, The Montreux Yearspublished by BMG
Some might consider that Montreux is abusing it and it might seem difficult to prove them wrong… before taking a look – then letting yourself be overwhelmed – by these first two references of a new collection called “The Montreux Years” which will be expect around twenty within two years.
Selection of the different performances of the different protagonists accompanied by a concert in their entirety in their CD version (1968 for Nina Simone, 1975 for Etta James), it is much more than a dive into the past that is offered here, the… fault to a quite astonishing sound restoration and mastering work which would almost make you believe that our two legends are active 50 centimeters from us.
Needless to say, their natural presence is enhanced at every moment, well beyond the jazz and blues that they respectively transcended.
