The return of Supersubmarina, on April 4 with the book ‘Something that serves as light’

Supersubmarine has confirmed his return. Although it may not have been the way that millions of followers expected (or maybe it was). Because Baeza’s formation has announced the publication of the book Something that serves as light in which the members of the group will tell “for the first time… our true story.”

“The starting point and what made us see the need to free ourselves were the first meetings with Fernando Navarro. From there, we were aware that we had a lot to tell and, almost without wanting to, we let ourselves be carried away by our own story. When we realized it, the story was of such magnitude that we decided that Fernando would capture it in this book,” confesses the band.

For this new adventure in their lives they have had the invaluable therapeutic help of Fernando Navarro, journalist for the newspaper El Paíswhich has left written the brutal testimony of the four protagonists of the band, as well as their friends and family: how life changes in just a few seconds and how from the heaven of success you can go to hell.

“From the first moment I started reading this book, I never thought about writing a typical musical biography. The story of Supersubmarina fascinated me because it was an unusual story in the world of music, full of vital readings in which the Hope and pain, success and tragedy, coexist in the story of four friends in a state of shock. I have sought to write a book about a collective trauma. It would have been impossible without the generosity of its four protagonists: José, Juanca, Pope and Jaime” explains the author of the book in the press release announcing the launch.

Something that serves as light

The accident we had on August 14, 2016 was such a tremendous shock for us that we felt very helpless before the possibility of being able to give an explanation of what was really happening to us without inflicting even greater damage than we were already suffering. Faced with this situation, both our family and friends, as well as us, decided to close ranks to protect ourselves. We thought (and think) that that decision was the best one we could make to focus on our recoveries and, perhaps, one day get our lives back. And we would like to emphasize that “maybe” because, believe us, everything was much more complicated than we would have imagined.

Although the band never stopped maintaining contact, since we are all lifelong friends and live in Baeza, little by little we distanced ourselves with the aim of trying, each in their own way, to resume what is known today as a “new normal”. Our particular “new normal”.

Thus, the months and years passed, and it was in 2022 when we met Fernando Navarro and something happened that none of us expected. As if it were a group therapy, what was initially going to be one of many more encounters, became the key that would forever open Pandora’s Box of Supersubmarina. Our minds began to open. Our fears, our insecurities; everything we had been keeping from each other all that time began to be released in the most organic way possible. Without being aware of it, Fernando had acted as a catalyst for all our emotions and Supersubmarina, not Jose, not Juanca, not Pope, not Jaime, Supersubmarina, for the first time in a long time began a therapy that has lasted two years. And the result of that therapy is this book that you will soon be able to have in your hands, where for the first time we tell our true story and where you can surely find the answers to many of the questions that you have asked us since everything happened.
