MARGHERITA VICARIO “GLORIA!” her debut film selected for the Berlin International Film Festival

In addition to being a singer, Margherita Vicario also began to reap results with her career as a director. “GLORY!” her debut film, was selected for the International Competition of the official selection at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival.

It is an immense joy and a great honor for me to participate in the official competition of the Berlinale – declares the director Margherita Vicario –

Glory! it is a film that has music as its protagonist and that uses music as a narrative language.

It’s what I’ve always tried to do in my work as a singer-songwriter: combine cinema and music. Glory! it is my first cinematic experiment in this sense and I thank Tempesta and all my collaborators for helping me reach this first extraordinary goal.”

The film, in cinemas from 11 April, stars Galatea Bellugi, Carlotta Gamba, Veronica Lucchesi (La Representative di Lista), Maria Vittoria Dallasta, Sara Mafodda, Paolo Rossi, Elio (Elio e le storie tese), Natalino Balasso, Anita Kravos, Vincenzo Crea, Jasmin Mattei. The screenplay is written by Anita Rivaroli and Margherita Vicario while the film’s music is composed by Vicario herself with the music producer Dade.

THE SYNOPSIS

Set in a women’s institute in Venice at the end of the 18th century, Gloria! tells the story of Teresa, a young woman with visionary talent, who, together with a small group of extraordinary musicians, transcends the centuries and challenges the dusty catafalques of the Ancien Régime by inventing rebellious, light and modern music. Pop!
