On January 27th at the Cineporto dell’Emilia-Romagna CineRock, an international evening event that combines music and photography. The golden age of rock arrives in Fiorano with the inauguration of the exhibition “It’s (Not) Only Rock’n’roll” by Mark Allan and the exclusive concert by Ninos Du Brasil.
A unique opportunity to discover the work of Mark Allan, who, known for his work documenting all the classical music concerts promoted by the Barbican Center in London, has also photographed the most representative names of the world rock scene, from the punk rock clubs of England in the late 70s to the backstage of the great international festivals.
After CineSwing, CineRock is the second of a cycle of ten events scheduled for the whole of 2024 at the Cineporto dell’Emilia Romagna, in the name of experimentation and contamination between genres” declares Alessandra Stefani, producer, director, founder of Scarabeo Entertainment and of Cineporto dell’Emilia Romagna, which oversaw the artistic direction of the event.
The idea of CineRock was born from my great passion for music, which is also the underlying theme of my films, with the aim of creating new experiences and interaction between people. Through unique and refined events, with a strong international resonance, we try to go beyond patterns and stereotypes, to make this hub a new cultural reference point for a lively and pulsating province”.
A retrospective of forty-eight shots that retrace the history of Pop Music, from behind the scenes to crucial meetings, such as those with his friend David Bowie, who asked him to join him in Roskilde, Denmark, to be portrayed with a bucket and spade on the sand. And with Amy Winehouse posing on a stool during the break in the recording of the album with Tony Bennet, among the symbolic photos of her. All immortalized with an always intimate approach, which restores the true humanity of the artists portrayed. From Freddie Mercury during the recordings of Live Aid to U2 in the Radio Times studios. And Tina Turner, Britney Spears, Paul Mc Cartney, The Who, the Sex Pistols backstage at one of their very few concerts, are just some of the artists whose photos will be on display at the Cineporto dell’Emilia Romagna until February 27th.
The event will be inaugurated at the Cineporto dell’Emilia-Romagna at 6.00 pm by Mark Allan in talk with Pierfrancesco Pacoda, curator of the exhibition and music critic who deals with youth cultures, with particular attention to the relationship between music and lifestyles .
From 10.00 pm the overwhelming performance of Ninos Du Brasil, a duo composed of the artist and performer Nico Vascellari and the drummer Nicolò Fortuni, who boldly mixing electronic tribalism, samba, punk and noise give life to mystical and primordial performances.
