“Gift Horse” is a new extract from Tangknext studio album, whose release is announced on February 16. “In a group with musicians who do not have an academic background, it is common to communicate using onomatopoeia”explains guitarist and founding member, Mark Bowen. “We didn’t want to give any clue about the content of the album, apart from this onomatopoeia. It matches him perfectly, but does not refer to any entry in the dictionary. It takes on its meaning when listening to the record.” The full interview will be available in our issue 159. With Tangk, IDLES once again push their sonic and experimental boundaries. A concise and dense record, it shows a group that continues to stray from the beaten path, with enthusiasm mixed with controlled discomfort. There are also the singles “Dancer” and “Grace”.
Tangk will also be an opportunity for the British to do a European tour, which will be marked by the biggest date in Paris to date. See you at the Zénith on March 7.
