Liam Gallagher and John Squire of the Stone Roses team up on new single, “ Just Another Rainbow “.
Liam Gallagher and Stone Roses guitarist John Squire have released a joint single, “ Just Another Rainbow “. The song marks the first collaboration between the two Manchester musicians, who plan to release further material in 2024.
“ Just Another Rainbow ” was produced by Greg Kurstin during a three-week recording session in Los Angeles. Kurstin also played bass on the song, with Joey Waronker on drums. A press release states: “ There will be plenty more new music coming – and there might just be some shows too. »
“ I think John is an excellent composerGallagher said in a statement. Everyone talks about him as a guitarist, but he’s also an outstanding songwriter. There isn’t enough of his music out there, whether with the Roses or solo. It’s good to see him writing songs again, and damn good ones. The melodies are great and the guitars too, obviously. But I think even if you take away all those guitars, you can play the songs acoustically and they’ll still blow you away. »
“ For me, the most obvious interpretation of “Just Another Rainbow” is that it is a disappointment, that we never get what we really wantadded Squire. Although Gallagher and Squire had never worked together before, they first met in 1989, when Gallagher, then 16, attended a Stone Roses concert, which he described in the press release as having “ changed his life “.
