“From there we savored life.” This is how it defines Nil Moliner his Paradise Place and opens the doors of his third album with the song THE MANIFESTO. This introduction narrated by Andreu Buenafuente is an invitation from the artist to discover his new album, full of his characteristic “good vibes” but also with songs that reflect “more bitter moments” about which “we also have to talk,” adds the Catalan during his interview for the EL PAÍS Meetings.
Paradise Placethe new album by Nil Moliner, a work created and written in movement. “Being in the van, looking out the window and having the landscape change every second (…) gives me a lot to think about,” explains the Catalan. During the event held for EL PAÍS subscribers presented by journalist Laura Piñero at the Teatros Luchana, the artist tells how the podcast Nobody Knows Anything, by Berto Romero and Andreu Buenafuente has accompanied him at many times during those road trips. Including the voice of his traveling companion in the introduction of the album has been a nice way to “close the circle,” he explains.
The Catalan’s new work includes optimistic songs, something that defines him, but also songs like My flag, which speaks of the pain felt when being far from love, friendship and home. “There are songs that are like stabs for me,” she explains to EL PAÍS. ‘Paradise Place’ closes with Fly high, a topic that was included in extremis, when the physical album was already being produced. “It is a very paradise place and it had to be,” says Nil Moliner.
The album includes several collaborations, such as City Lights with Dani Fernández and Álvaro de Lunaeither Good day, with the Ghanaian artist Camidoh. Nor could a song in Catalan be missing from his third album, in this case, When you don’t follow prop, with Lluís Gavaldà. It is already a tradition that Nil Moliner includes a song in his native language on his albums: “It has to be very well taken care of (…) and be the one that excites me the most,” he explains, “because it is the only one.” Furthermore, for the artist it is especially exciting to be able to sing in Catalan during his concerts “in Murcia, for example, and hear people sing.”
He also shared during the interview his relationship with anxiety throughout his life. “I still live with it, but in a friendlier way,” he explains, thanks to the “support of professionals, which is what saved me.” However, the company of his loved ones has been essential for the artist, since They have been the ones who have “given him wings.” Despite spending a lot of time away from his home and his loved ones, “I need my band, my team, to be touring. It’s what makes me happy,” the Catalan confessed. Nil Moliner will be in concert on April 20 at the Palau Saint Jordi, Barcelona, but he revealed that there will be more dates in Madrid and other citieswhich will be part of his new tour Paradise Place.
