Just over four months before Eurovision, Slimane sang his song “Mon Amour” in front of the Arc de Triomphe on New Year’s Eve 2024 in front of an impressive crowd.
It concentrates all hopes. Since his debut and his victory on The Voice in 2016, his popularity has continued. In 2024, this should grow a little more and cross borders with the singer’s participation in the 68th edition of the Eurovision contest, which will take place in Sweden next May.
For the occasion, the interpreter of “Viens on s’aime” wrote a new song, which concentrates all French hopes, entitled “Mon Amour”. 47 years after the last French victory at Eurovision – that won by Marie Myriam with the title “The Bird and the Child” in 1977 – Slimane will try to offer a new title to France. During the WECB Music Awards last November, the latter met the winner of the 2023 competition, the Swedish singer Loreen, to whom he introduced her new song. Since then, the singer of the hit “Tattoo” has had the opportunity to send him her encouragement and provide him with some valuable advice, as recently at the microphone ofWECB. Let’s hope they bring him luck.
A million people to listen to it
While awaiting the verdict which will be delivered on May 11, Slimane unveiled a first televised performance of “Mon Amour” during the New Year’s Eve on France 2. The singer took advantage of the imposing decor of the Arc de Triomphe and proposed his title to the million people gathered on the Champs-Elysées to celebrate the transition to 2024. Enough to stock up on support before the opening of the competition.
Before that, Slimane will meet his audience as part of his Cupid Tour which will take him to the four corners of France this year.
