The American hard rock band Ugly Kid Joe will give two concerts in France in 2024 to present Rad Wings of Destiny.
Not content with having raised the Hellfest in 2022 and returned the Motocultor in 2023, Ugly Kid Joe will resume service in March 2024. See you on the 12th at Trabendo (Paris) and the 15th at Black Lab (Wasquehal). If the places for the latter have already sold out, the Parisian public can still obtain tickets. The Virginmarys will be present to provide the opening act.
These concerts will be an opportunity for the Americans to headline their latest album, entitled Rad Wings of Destiny. In addition to containing a delightful cover of The Kinks, it shows a group still in great shape 30 years after the release ofAmerica’s Least Wanted.
Interviewed by the editorial team, singer Whitfield Crane explains the origin of the title, whose obvious resemblance to Sad Wings of Destiny by Judas Priest is far from innocent: “I’m a big fan of Judas Priest, they have greatly influenced my life, like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Ozzy Osbourne and others. When I was 14, I already knew Klaus Eichstadt, our guitarist. I was impressed with the way he played “Eruption” by Van Halen. »
The two musicians nevertheless took time to get used to each other: “I asked him if I could sing with him. He was more popular than me, so he refused. As I insisted, one day we listened to the album Screaming For Vengeance, which captivated me. He gave me the album and said “when you sing like this, you can sing in my band”. I ran all the way home and listened to it over and over afterward. A door had opened for me. I then explored the previous albums, with Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings of Destiny, Stained Class…”
The destinies ofUgly Kid Joe and Judas Priest then crossed paths: “Rob Halford sang “Goddamn Devil” on America’s Least Wanted and on stage with us in 1993. I also sang with Glenn Tipton on Baptism of Fire. So we have real connections. We happen to say “Rad” in every sentence between us, so Rad Wings of Destiny came out on top. »
Ugly Kid Joe will he share his passion for English legends with his French audience? Response in March.
