“Mary Poppins Returns” on Rai 1. The soundtrack

Music news

“Mary Poppins Returns” airs on Rai 1, tonight Thursday 28 December, directed by Rob Marshall. From 1964 to today, the magical babysitter hasn’t aged a minute.

THE SYNOPSIS

London, 1935: the two little boys who had been looked after by Mary Poppins have grown up. Michael works in a bank, is a widower and has three children; her sister Jane is an activist who fights for workers’ rights. There is a lot of disorder, domestic and financial: he needs a smart housekeeper to put things back in order.

And Mary returns from the past, with her magical umbrella. It took Disney almost half a century to produce a sequel to one of its most successful films: the result is a colossal film that maintains the grace and enchantment of the original film, thanks also to its actors, with Emily Blunt who makes you ever regret Julie Andrews.

Also starring Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Colin Firth, Dick Van Dyke, Angela Lansbury, Julie Walters.

The Italian voice in the songs performed by Mary Poppins is that of Serena Rossi.
