Children of Bodom – The Final Show in Helsinki Ice Hall 2019

Music news

Almost three years after the death of Alexi Laiho, Children of Bodom offers us a last moment with the Finnish extreme metal group.

Thus comes the recording of the very last concert they gave, in 2019. So at the twilight of their career, the group knows that this concert is their last. The energy of the last breath is palpable and the enthusiasm present despite everything. The group draws from all its albums, from the thunderous debut of Something Wild to the latest, Hexen. Children of Bodom does not forget its hits, like “Hate Me!”, “Bodom Beach Terror”, or the classic finale “Downfall”. However, titles played less frequently like “Shovel Knockout” or “Deadnight Warrior” show the end of their riffs. All eras pass there, from the neo-classical flights of “Lake Bodom” to the ghostly atmospheres of “Halo of Blood”.

Wild and imperfect, this live faithfully transcribes the atmosphere of Children of Bodom concerts. Focusing above all on enthusiasm and energy, the group does not attempt to hide certain imprecise passages, without the experience being spoiled. This live still retains the bitter taste of the end. We are in the presence of a final testimony to the raw talent of one of the greatest guitar heroes of the 2000s, whose inspiration remains on the modern metal scene. It also shows that he was never more alive than when he was devouring the stage with his full teeth.

Farewell Wildchild.
