Porno for Pyros celebrates Christmas and the fight against cancer

Music news

Porno for Pyros publishes “ Pete’s Dad “, a sweet (and sometimes weird) song inspired by guitarist Peter DiStefano’s father who beat cancer.

Porno for Pyros has shared a special new song for the holidays, “ Pete’s Dad », which talks about the father of guitarist Peter DiStefano, who has just beaten cancer.

Although the drums and acoustic guitars sometimes venture into strange sonic spaces, “ Pete’s Dad » is clearly full of heart, tenderness and even humor. On the chorus, singer Perry Farrell says: “ Pete’s dad is cancer free/The doctor called him and told him/Just before we sat down for Christmas dinner/When he found out we all cried a little/ It was one of those miracles/It was one of those Christmas miracles! »

In a statement, DiStefano said: “ Best friends are people of action. When Porno for Pyros created the song ‘Pete’s Dad’, I knew these men were my best friends. »

Pete’s Dad » comes right after « Water ”, which was released in November and was the first new song from Porno for Pyros in 26 years. The song, described as “ an ode to the sea and all its beautiful creatures ”, was inspired by the encounters the group had with dolphins while surfing in the nineties. Before ” Water “, Porno for Pyros hadn’t released a song since ” Hard Charger “, which appeared on the film’s soundtrack Private Parts by Howard Stern in 1997.

In July, the band announced their first tour in 25 years, before pushing it back a few months later, saying they were working on new songs. When the Perry Farrell-led band announced the rescheduled dates in November, he revealed that their reunion tour would now be a ” farewell tour “. The tour will begin next February in Santa Ana, California, and conclude on March 10 in Montclair, New Jersey.
