The saga of “QVC – WHAT I RECOMMEND” by GEMITAIZ continues. Getting to volume number ten says it all and becomes, by right, an institution on the scene, an essential cult.
The first mixtape of the series is dated 2009. An immensity ago, especially when compared to the speed of evolution of current urban music and despite the time Gemitaiz still confirms himself as a protagonist and a master of Italian rap.
The mixtape is long-winded, as it should be: 22 tracks for an hour and a minute of high quality hip hop music.
THE GUESTS AND THE PRODUCTION
In volume ten Gemitaiz is accompanied by many historical colleagues and many emerging artists of the new generations. Among the names: Jay1, Fabri Fibra, MadMan, MV Killa, Yung Snapp, Ketama 126, Emis Killa, Guè, Massimo Pericolo, Nayt, Jake La Furia, Franco 126, Lil Kvneki, Ensi, Nerone, Vegas Jones, Jack The Smoker , Rome Fortune, DJ Shocca.
In the productions, however, in addition to Gemitaiz himself, we find: Mixer T, Sine, PK, 2P, Ombra, Yung Snapp, Il Tre Beats; Frenetik&Orang3; Adma; DJ Shocca; Mace.
An endless list of friends with the best of the scene. It’s a shame there is no female presence. A missed opportunity for Gemitaiz to break this wall of custom that rap must only be a male thing.
STYLE
On the album the Roman king tackles the whole scene, almost as if it were a compendium, an encyclopedic manual of urban genres and subgenres: from the most stylish things (La Intro has a beautiful, cinematic and 50’s beat) and soft almost 2steps (In Without You there is also a reference to Bruno Mars), moving from the tightest and roughest rap, to the old style, to the most current trap, up to the worthy conclusion Still lifeintimate, introspective and almost symphonic which shows the state of arrival of this volume 10.
All with tight rhymes and bars, filled with continuous references and quotes that tell of society and street life, among its thousand contradictions, clichés, dark lights, massacres, absurdities and injustices.
For the tenth time what Gemitaiz recommends is a lot of stuff…
