In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the album at number 418 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Band on the Run has only grown in importance in recent years. It is considered as the definitive album by the British rock group and a fan favorite.

Paul often plays songs from Band on the Run in the concerts of his acclaimed tour Got Backtour that started in February 2022 and which the Times newspaper described as ā€œthe best tour of all time.ā€ With it, McCartney made history by headlining Glastonbury in June 2022 and offering a concert in which Dave Grohl joined his team to play a very special duet of Band on the Run.
