Video interview – NAPOLEONE: in “Va’ e Torna” I discovered a lot about myself

Interviews

“Va’ e Torna” is the title of the new EP by Campania singer-songwriter NAPOLEONE, containing the single “HITMANIA”, Mixed By Erry.

THE SINGLE

“Mixed By Erry, the ideal dimension for clean listening”. It is with these words that “HITMANIA” begins: lending its voice for a completely innovative intro that brings to mind the distant memory of the cassette tape is Enrico Frattasio, aka DJ ERRYpresent for the first time, with his voice.

After Napoleone’s participation in “Capa Tosta”, featuring in Guè’s album “Madreperla”, the singer-songwriter returns to collaborate with the rapper in the album version of “HITMANIA”, one of the 8 tracks that make up “VA’ E TORNA ”, all produced by the expert hand of Giordano Colombo.

The singer-songwriter’s new EP, preceded by the single “Romantico Noir”, is a project that represents the balance that Napoleone tries to maintain between his creative part and that which allows him to keep his feet on the ground.

“Go and come back” is the cover of a journey that I didn’t expect to have to undertake – says Napoleone –

It is a collection of stories, sounds, characters and places that I have known inside and out at various stages of my life.”

THE COVER

The cover, edited by Carmen Gallo (Microdrammi), depicts a mermaid with a tear in the center that separates her human part from her animal part and symbolizes the singer-songwriter’s journey: the journey, the detachment from the roots and the separation from the sea.

The choice of the mermaid is not random, according to local mythology it is what gave rise to the main coasts of southern Italy.

From the bodies of Partenope, Leucosia and Ligea, cities such as Naples and Poseidonia (now Paestum) were born where Napoleon was born and raised.

Furthermore, the color of the tear represents the singer-songwriter’s two current homelands: Salerno and Turin.

ABOUT NAPOLEON

Already the author of numerous songs for established artists in the Italian music scene for Sony music publishing, in 2020 Davide Napoleone, aka Napoleone, decided to give life to his own artistic project with a fresh and international sound, trying to evoke stories, places and characters of the past, through the atmospheres of the Campania musical tradition. The first three singles released “Amalfi”, “Porta pacienza” and “Povera feminine”, for example, are inspired by the life of the Amalfi singer-songwriter Vito Manzo who died prematurely in 1957. His career as an author began with his entry into Sony Atv under the guidance of Paola Balestrazzi and with the signature of the single “Solo per un po” included in the album “Anime di carta” by Michele Bravi, Gold Certified and “Best Performance” at the TIM MTV Awards 2017. Subsequently he collaborates with Samuel Romano of Subsonica and Ale Bavo wrote the unreleased “Elefante” by Booda, the workhorse of the X Factor finalist band in 2019; the following year he signed “Mi memoria un po’ di me” for Gaia Gozzi, winner of Amici di Maria de Filippi, and wrote the song “Ciriamo persi” together with Chiara Galiazzo, previously unreleased on his latest album “Bonsai”.

In the double role of producer and author he collaborates on the third album by the singer-songwriter Giorgieness entitled “MONSTRI”. In 2021 he made his debut in writing for the small screen with the song “A testa alta” present in the original soundtrack of the children’s TV series “Marta e Eva” broadcast on RaiGulp.

Worthy of note is the collaboration with Valentina Parisse in the singles “Dannata Lotta” and “Every Bene”, songs worked together with an exceptional team including the American mix engineer Chris Lord Alge, and the co-writing of the pieces “Tu vedivi rainfall, io I only saw lightning” and “The first time I met you” by the RIVA indie band from the Neapolitan scene. Also in 2021 he entered the roster of the Turin label INRI where, at the urging of the artistic director Pierpaolo Peroni, he found a new home for his songwriting project. NAPOLEONE with the publication of the single “Lacrime a Mare” immediately conquers the Radio Deejay playlist and is included in the musical programming of various national and regional radio stations throughout the country from North to South.

2023 opens with the release of the single “Appuntamento al Lungomare” for Virgin Music LAS Italia / Universal Music Italia: a nostalgic funk ballad written and produced once again with the complicity of Giordano Colombo. The single opens a new year marked by the collaborations sealed with the release of “Capa Tosta”, featuring contained in Guè’s album “Madreperla”, released last January. Napoleon was also among the protagonists of the May Day 2023 Concert in Rome.
