Dua Lipa’s visceral reaction to her Grammy nominations: “I’m living in a massive whirlwind”

Music news

It’s been just over two weeks since The Recording Academy in the United States released the complete list of nominees for the 2024 Grammy Awards. A reading of names that left us with two main headlines: the nomination of the Spanish Pablo Alborán in the Latin category and the power of women who monopolized a good part of the candidacies. One of them, Dua Lipahas responded to what he felt when he found out about his two award options on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast.

“I got a text from a friend saying, ‘Do you know that you just got nominated for two Grammy Awards for Dance the Night? ‘I was already at the top because I had just released my new single, ‘Houdini’, and that was an even bigger flight. And then I received this news and I seemed to be living in a huge whirlwind, I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing” explained the London singer of Kosovo origin.

“I was very happy to be nominated, especially for a song that means a lot to me. I feel like it’s a very big part of me,” Dua Lipa concluded. That song is none other than Dance the Night included in the Barbie soundtrack that is still playing on half the planet today.

We have to highlight the aforementioned soundtrack, directed by Mark Ronson. The famous film has added several nominations (even in the main categories) thanks to What Was I Made For by Billie Eilish and Dance The Night by Dua Lipa.

This year the stars of the Grammys are them. Female voices stand out in almost all major categories. In fact, in song of the year we only find one song performed by a man, Butterfly by Jon Batiste. Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish will fight to get the famous golden gramophone. In fact, these seven artists are the ones that are repeated the most in the categories. Taylor Swift, SZA and Olivia Rodrigo being the most nominated thanks to their albums Midnights, SOS and GUTS.

It must be remembered that Dua Lipa has already won the Grammy Award three times (New Artist, Dance Recording and Pop Album) but she has not done so in the category of Best Song of the Year in which she is nominated and in which the competition goes. to be fierce.
