Filmed in Tokyo, Yungblud’s new music video for “ Happier » shows the singer partying with Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes.
Yungblud has released a new retro video for his single “ Happier ”, with Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon.
Filmed in Tokyo, the clip shows the two artists screaming at the top of their lungs to karaoke lyrics, playing arcade machines and wiggling their hips on a crowded dance floor.
“ Happier ” is a chaotic, but cathartic song, compared to ” Hated », which evoked the trauma suffered by Yungblud following sexual abuse of which he was allegedly a victim as a child.
The upbeat visual, directed by Masaki Watanabe, marks Yungblud’s second collaboration with Sykes following the single ” Obey » from Bring Me The Horizon in 2020. The two artists spent the fall touring Asia, with concerts in Seoul, South Korea, Tokyo, Japan, Manila, Philippines, Singapore and Bangkok , in Thailand.
The artist who became known in 2018 started his year with “ Lowlife ”, a bass-heavy title, followed by “ Hated », a title charged with emotion, in August. In September 2022, he released his third album, Yungblud. The 12-track album is a “ swirling listen, fusing building blocks from various rock subgenres, primarily the hip-swinging carnality of Britpop and the wails of emo, before spitting them out with the addition of confessional lyrics ”, as described in a review of WECB.
